Dear Show Support Crew Members,
Please familiarise yourself with the online Orientation Induction and the Competency Assessment
The Orientation Induction should be completed by all new Crew Members prior to their first Shift.
The Competency Assessment should be completed by a Senior Crew Member prior to all new Crew Member’s first shift.
The Orientation Induction and the Competency Assessment is part of our ongoing process to make our forms easily accessible to all SHS Crew Members online.
The Orientation Induction and the Competency Assessment have been specifically created for ease of use and to be available at all times and locations.
Before commencing work on their first SHS Shift, all first time SHS Crew Members, regardless of industry experience, must complete the Orientation Induction as part of the induction process. This remains true although they already will have completed the Recruit Induction as part of their recruitment process.
The OSI must be filled in by the first time SHS Crew Member under the supervision of a qualified senior SHS Crew Member, signed and submitted, all using a smartphone or tablet device.
During the Competency Assessment, prior to the commencement of a first time SHS Crew Member, a senior SHS Crew Member will train the first time SHS Crew Members in the following:
1. The senior SHS Crew Member will go through the Tool Box Talk with the first time SHS Crew Members to ensure they understand all points.
Then the senior SHS Crew Member will take all first time SHS Crew Members through the Orientation Induction to ensure they understand all points.
Alternately, first time SHS Crew Members can take themselves through the Orientation Induction on their mobile device before they start work onsite.
2. The senior SHS Crew Member will demonstrate to first time Crew Members how to correctly lift and stack roadcases and other aspects of manual handling.
3. The senior SHS Crew Member will demonstrate to first time Crew Members how to load and unload vehicles safely.
4. The senior SHS Crew Member will demonstrate to first time Crew Members how to correctly roll leads.
5. The senior SHS Crew Member will train and instruct first time Crew Members on how to report all incidences and near misses using the Incident Report Form.
6. The senior SHS Crew Member will train and instruct first time Crew Members on how to report any Safety Issues using the Report Safety Issue Form.
Once satisfied that the first time SHS Crew Members have been inducted and assessed for competency in the tasks they will be required to carry out, the Senior SHS Crew Member will add their name, Venue and date, and will sign at the top of the signature bloc, under which all inductees shall sign in the space below.
Orientation Inductions and Competency Assessments will be organised by SHS Operations with additional time for completion funded by Show Support.
